This installation system is based on the topic of the Archive and Memory. With ShoeVox I ask people to explore everyday objects. These common objects speak to us through the memories that we associate with them. These objects can evoke our sense of life under the surface, and provoke fascination with what with what we feel but cannot see. Storytelling helps us to understand how our personal histories affect and connect us to the rest of the world. It was developed with the assistance of Canadian Film Centre. More about this project go to Shoevox website.

What is art?
A collage is used in this participatory installation as an opening strategy to initiate conversation about what art means to us today. A completed painting was cut into small pieces and one piece sent out to each guest, along with their invitation to an art show. As requested the attendees brought these collage pieces to the show opening and helped to re-create the painting on a large canvas. Next to this piece on a blank canvas the participants were invited to write words or thoughts corresponding to different meanings of art. They could also play with some preprinted words such as free play, interactivity, human experience, knowledge and blood... The audio files recorded at this event were used for a participatory net art project at the Art Birthday event.
