Red Series

The body of work "Red Series" began with a desire to explore the culture of Red. In some cultures, red denotes purity, joy and celebration. Red is power and energy. Red is often the color worn by brides in the east while it is the color of mourning in South Africa. In Russia the Bolsheviks used a red flag when they overthrew the Tsar, thus red became associated with communism.

I use red to carry energy of the fire and the sun. All I experience is spontaneity, magic, celebration, adventure, the path of freedom. My creative approach is very similar to my pulp paintings. I study my body physical effect on red including increasing the rate of respiration, raising blood pressure and making the heart beat faster. This process can be considered a healing element in getting back the mind and body balance.
